U:HACK Iloilo Attended by 113 Participants

ILOILO CITY- UnionBank once again brought the HACKATON event to Iloilo last September 15-16, 2018 with the theme Tech Agri. This event was attended at least 113 students, faculty, and professionals coming from Region 6.

Despite the bad weather and the on-going onslaught of Typhoon Opong in the country. The event was opened with a bang from the dance number from one of the Dinagyang Tribe in Iloilo. Most of the officers of UnionBank was not able to travel with the bad weather, with the exception of Mr. Paulo Martin G. Santos, Vice-President of UnionBank Enterprise.

Mr. Santos presented Robotics Process Automation an Artificial Intelligence application that is already used by UnionBank. In the conventional process on posting the rates are now being automate. The average typical human process was timed to be around 15 minutes whole automaton is only 2.5 minutes. This significant process saves a lot of time and resources. He said that “Two-thirds of UnionBank workforce was affected by this transformation”.

Ms. Ellaine Cedillo, Co-Founder and Organizer of UHack delivered the mechanics and the prizes that awaits for the winners are P40,000 – Second Runner-Up; P60,000 – First Runner-Up; and P80,000 for the Grand Prize Winner.
